WestJet has announced its 2025/2026 winter schedule, adding five new destinations to its lineup.
Although the number of departures will rise by three percent compared to last year, overall seat capacity will remain unchanged. This is due to the ongoing process of updating former Sunwing and Swoop aircraft to match WestJet’s standard cabin configuration ahead of the season.
For winter, the airline will operate 305 routes, serving 62 destinations across Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. With options for flight-only bookings through WestJet and vacation packages via Sunwing Vacations Group, travelers will have more chances to swap snow for sun.
New destinations and routes
WestJet’s updated schedule introduces five new destinations: Panama City (Panama), Guadalajara and Tepic (Mexico), Havana (Cuba), and Managua (Nicaragua). It also marks the first winter season with year-round service to Mexico City.
Seat capacity across Latin America and the Caribbean is set to grow by six percent, with special attention on the Dominican Republic—one of the airline’s key growth markets. As demand for sun-soaked escapes rises, new routes to this Caribbean hotspot will play a pivotal role in WestJet’s winter expansion.
Returning routes for winter 2025/26
One of the most anticipated returns this winter is the launch of direct WestJet service to Samaná, Dominican Republic—previously available only via Sunwing Airlines. This connection will offer Canadian travelers easier access to one of the Caribbean’s most breathtaking eco-tourism destinations, celebrated for its untouched beaches, lush landscapes, and tranquil charm.
In addition, WestJet is reinstating four more routes and reviving seasonal service to many of Canada’s most sought-after winter escapes.
Plan Ahead for Paradise
Travelers eager to trade winter coats for sun-soaked beaches can now start planning their next tropical escape. WestJet’s complete 2025/2026 winter schedule — including its new direct flights to Samaná, one of the Dominican Republic’s most enchanting eco-destinations — will be available for booking starting July 14, 2025.
