Areas on the north coast
Sosúa: El Batey
The main tourist section on the east side of Sosúa Bay, with restaurants, shops and the beach within walking distance. Condos and apartment buildings are concentrated around the center. Browse Sosúa listings.
Sosúa: Los Charamicos
The west end of town, known for its nightlife and local character. The town was founded as a settlement by about 800 Jewish refugees between 1940 and 1945, and tourism grew from the 1980s. See Sosúa listings.
Sosúa beaches: Playa Alicia, Paradise Beach, Playa Chiquita
Smaller beaches around Sosúa, including Playa Alicia, Paradise Beach and Playa Chiquita, plus Playa Imbert further out. Compare by price per m² and not only by total price when looking near the water.
Cabarete Bay and Kite Beach

Puerto Plata city

Playa Dorada, Costambar and Cofresí

Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) is about 15 to 20 km from Puerto Plata city, roughly 10 minutes from Sosúa and 20 to 30 minutes from Cabarete. Santo Domingo is about 240 km from Sosúa.
Which is cheapest: Sosúa, Cabarete or Puerto Plata?
By median asking price, Cabarete is lowest at $176,000, then Puerto Plata at $275,000 and Sosúa at $299,000. Cabarete is mostly land, so the mix of property types drives the difference.
How much does land cost on the north coast?
Median asking price per m² of land is about $75 in Cabarete, $95 in Sosúa and $175 in Puerto Plata (active listings, October 2026). Always check the title and the survey before buying.
