Delta Airlines has announced an exciting addition to its Dominican Republic routes: a daily connection between Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) and Puerto Plata’s Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP). This route marks Delta’s fourth destination in the country, further solidifying its presence in the Caribbean tourism market.

Operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, configured to accommodate 160 passengers across First Class, Comfort+, and Economy, this service will run daily until April 13, offering a total capacity of 20,800 seats during this period. Flights depart Atlanta at 11:25 AM, arriving in Puerto Plata at 3:30 PM, with the return trip leaving Puerto Plata at 4:40 PM and landing back in Atlanta at 7:15 PM.

Strengthening Connections and Boosting Tourism

Delta’s newest route underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing air connectivity for Puerto Plata, often referred to as “La Novia del Atlántico.” Long heralded as the birthplace of tourism in the Dominican Republic, this northern gem is a key player in the nation’s tourism strategy.

With Puerto Plata ranked as the country’s fourth busiest airport, having processed over 832,917 passengers from January to September this year, the route is set to provide seamless travel options for both leisure and business travelers. It also enhances Puerto Plata’s connections to major hubs like Miami, New York, and Toronto.

Delta’s Growing Footprint in the Dominican Republic

In addition to Puerto Plata, Delta operates flights to Punta Cana (PUJ), Santiago de los Caballeros (STI), and Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ). This latest addition is part of Delta’s ambitious plan, which includes up to 115 weekly flights on nine routes, reflecting a 12.7% increase in operations compared to the previous season.

A Collaborative Effort for Growth

The success of Dominican tourism owes much to the collaboration between public and private sectors. This new route not only enhances convenience for visitors but also strengthens the infrastructure needed to support the ever-growing tourism industry in Puerto Plata and beyond.

💼 Whether you’re planning a relaxing getaway or a business trip, Delta’s Atlanta–Puerto Plata route makes your journey easier and more comfortable.
