The Dominican Republic strengthens its position as the Caribbean’s most complete and diverse destination. Visitors from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Peru surpassed one million in just nine months.

More than 1,500 travel agents, tour operators, media representatives, and opinion leaders gathered at the La Rural Convention Center in Buenos Aires for “Meet in Paradise”, the Latin American edition of the Dominican Republic’s signature tourism experience.
The event offered a full day of learning, inspiration, and connection with the Dominican spirit — featuring interactive training sessions, thematic panels, and vibrant cultural and culinary experiences.
The Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its position as the Caribbean’s most complete and diverse destination, driven by visitors from Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, and Uruguay, who together surpassed one million arrivals in just nine months. “Meet in Paradise” perfectly embodied the values behind this success and the nation’s brand identity: authenticity, joy, hospitality, and diversity.
“Our Heart Is in South America”
Merengue and bachata classes, a Dominican rum tasting, and an immersive art-and-coffee experience brought the island’s culture to life during Meet in Paradise. Guests were also transported to the warmth of the Caribbean through an immersive dome that recreated the country’s landscapes and emotions.

The program featured a panel titled “Tourism, Leadership, and Inspiration,” with Argentine soccer legends Maxi Rodríguez and Sergio Goycochea, alongside sessions on air connectivity, luxury travel, marine tourism, and the DO Travel Rewards loyalty program. The destinations of Santo Domingo, known for its blend of history and modernity, and Samaná, the country’s natural jewel, stood out for their beauty, exclusivity, and sustainable appeal.
“Our heart is here, in South America,” said Tourism Minister David Collado. “We’re expanding our direct routes to get even closer to you and opening new destinations so that more travelers can discover that in the Dominican Republic, we truly have it all.”

Tourism Boom: The Numbers Behind the Success
South America has firmly established itself as the fastest-growing source market for travelers to the Dominican Republic — and now stands as the second largest worldwide. Between January and September 2025, the country welcomed over one million South American visitors, representing a 26% year-over-year increase compared to 2024.
Argentina led the surge with 339,871 travelers, accounting for 33% of total arrivals from the region and marking a remarkable 76% growth over the previous year. It was followed by Colombia, with 274,287 tourists (+17%), and Chile, which remained stable with 116,443 visitors.
Brazil recorded 98,939 arrivals, up 16%, while Peru showed strong momentum with 88,054 visitors and a 43% increase. Ecuador registered 52,189 travelers (+9%), and Uruguay maintained steady figures with 25,408 arrivals.
The takeaway? For the second consecutive year, South America has surpassed Europe as the leading source of international visitors to the Dominican Republic. With this latest edition of “Meet in Paradise,” the nation continues to win hearts, forge partnerships, and position itself as a destination that’s not just visited — but lived, felt, and remembered.
