Puerto Plata, DR.— In response to a significant surge in tourism, 125 new police officers have been deployed to strengthen surveillance, patrols, and public safety in Puerto Plata.

General Jorge Luis Galán Guerrero, commander of the National Police in Puerto Plata, announced that these officers are already actively engaged in crime prevention efforts.

“Puerto Plata is one of the safest provinces in the country due to effective 24/7 preventive patrols. The arrival of these additional officers, who have been distributed across various locations, is a great benefit for us,” he stated.

General Galán Guerrero expressed his appreciation to the general director of the National Police, Ramon Antonio Guzmán Peralta, for increasing the number of agents in “The Bride of the Atlantic,” a tourist destination recognized worldwide, as reported by Nuevo Diario.

“Puerto Plata is currently the top cruise tourism destination in the Caribbean, with transatlantic ships bringing thousands of visitors each week,” Galán Guerrero added.

He also commended the efficiency of joint patrols carried out by officers from the Northern Regional Directorate and personnel from the Puerto Plata Air Base, under the command of Brigadier General Manuel Abad García Lithgow.
