Brazil, Colombia, the United States and the Dominican Republic obtain first places in the First Pan American Formula Kite Cabarete Tournament 2021

During five days full of emotion and adrenaline with 21 competitors from 11 countries, Bruno Lobo, from Brazil obtained the first place in the finals in the men’s line of the tournament, with Victor Bolaños from Colombia the second place and Deury Corniel, from the Dominican Republic achieved qualify for third place in the First Pan American Formula Kite Cabarete 2021 Tournament.

Showing, once again, the full support of the Ministry of Tourism for the development of Puerto Plata, the North coast, and especially the tourist destination of Cabarete, Minister David Collado gave the start of the fourth qualifying competition in the Men’s Championship held the morning of this Saturday 21.

Collado visited the place, learning about the development of the tournament from its main organizers, and from the 21 young athletes from the eleven countries that participated, including the Dominican Republic.

After boarding a boat to make the surfers’ departure official, Collado expressed feeling shocked to feel the waves up close and “happy to see so many participants and tourists enjoying the Championship.”

For his part, Raúl Aguayo, vice president of the Dominican Sailing Federation, (Fedovela) thanked the Ministry of Tourism and Minister David Collado for their full support for the event, as well as the sports community and the press at the national level.

He highlighted the importance of this first version of the Kite Formula Championship so that Creole talents who practice other modalities such as Freestyle focus on this new kite formula discipline with the opportunity to obtain medals in international events such as the Paris Olympic Games. 2024.

Meanwhile, Toni Vodisek from Slovenia, who led with first place in the first three qualifying rounds, prevailed as the winner in the Men’s Open competition, with Bruno Lima from Brazil taking second place and Ejder Gynol from Turkey third.

Dominican talent Deury Corniel, 21, a gold medalist at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, managed to reach third place in the final, after tightly fighting for fifth and sixth places during the first three days of qualifying tests, in which he prevailed in the excellent wind conditions that ranged between 8 and 18 knots.

The Brazilian Lobo, has been a gold medalist in the 2019 Pan American Games in the same kind of kite formula.

The United States, leading Kirstyn O’brien in the Women’s Championship, took first place, followed by Kimberly Risbergen from the Netherlands, second, and Marie Reis from Brazil, third.

For this last day of the final, the sailors were divided into fleets of gold, silver, and bronze, while the women participated in short races of five minutes, as close to the coast as possible, an event held in front of the Hotel Villa Taína. one of the sponsors of the event.
