Las Terrenas, Samaná – Tourism Minister David Collado has announced that the newly renovated Pueblo de los Pescadores in Las Terrenas is set to open between February 15 and 20. Through a social media update, Collado highlighted that this transformation represents a major milestone for the area, enhancing both its tourism appeal and local infrastructure.
The popular waterfront destination suffered severe damage in September 2021 when a devastating fire destroyed 16 businesses. As part of the reconstruction, the area now features a modern fire prevention system to protect visitors, business owners, and the surrounding community. Collado and his team recently conducted an on-site review to ensure that the project aligns with the expectations of Las Terrenas’ tourism industry.
Emphasizing the significance of this renovation, Collado reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening local tourism and supporting the community. With the grand reopening just weeks away, the revitalized Fishermen’s Village is set to become an even more vibrant hub for both locals and visitors.
