The Dominican Republic continues to strengthen its position as a key air hub for the Caribbean and North America, as Tourism Minister David Collado and Arajet CEO and founder Victor Pacheco officially announced the launch of the airline’s third daily flight to the New York metropolitan area, set to begin operations next spring through Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
This expansion responds to the sustained growth in demand from the Dominican diaspora in the United States, as well as the increasing flow of tourists, business travelers, and investors moving between both countries. New York remains one of the most strategic markets for the Dominican Republic’s tourism and economic ecosystem.
According to Pacheco, the additional daily frequency reinforces Arajet’s commitment to offering an accessible, competitive, and high-quality service, particularly during peak travel seasons such as Christmas, when demand intensifies due to family reunions and holiday travel.
Both officials also confirmed that during this year’s Christmas holidays, the Dominican diaspora will have access to some of the most competitive airfares on the market, reaffirming Arajet’s mission to facilitate family connections without placing undue pressure on travel budgets.
Minister Collado highlighted that this milestone is a direct result of the Dominican government’s efforts to secure open skies agreements, which have fostered stronger competition and improved international air connectivity. “Thanks to these agreements, we now have a Dominican airline flying to six cities in the United States at the most competitive prices available,” he stated.
Currently, Arajet operates two daily flights between Santo Domingo’s Las Américas International Airport (AILA) and Newark (EWR). The morning departure leaves Santo Domingo at 6:10 a.m., arriving in Newark at 9:30 a.m., while the evening service departs at 7:10 p.m. and lands at 10:30 p.m. The third daily frequency will further solidify this critical air bridge between both nations.
