The new facility strengthens Samana’s standing as a premier gateway for executive aviation and high-end tourism in the Dominican Republic
Samana — Universal Aviation® and AERODOM®, part of the VINCI Airports group, held the official inauguration of a new private flight terminal (FBO) at Presidente Juan Bosch International Airport (El Catey) in Samana. The ceremony was led by executives from both companies and attended by key authorities, including the Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), Igor Rodríguez, and the president of ASONAHORES, Juan Bancalari.
With this opening, Samana secures its place on the international map as an exclusive entry point for high-profile travelers, aircraft owners, and tourists seeking luxury experiences in a setting of extraordinary natural beauty. This is the third FBO operated by Universal Aviation® in the Dominican Republic, joining its facilities at La Isabela International Airport in Santo Domingo and Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata.
“Private aviation in the Dominican Republic continues to show sustained growth, reflecting both the country’s economic dynamism and its position as a high-value destination. Investments like this new FBO further elevate the user experience when entering or leaving the country, thanks to exceptional service and modern facilities that meet the highest international standards. IDAC will continue to support initiatives that strengthen the competitiveness and quality of the national aviation system,”
Igor Rodríguez, Director General of IDAC.

Greg Evans, Chairman of Universal Aviation®, expressed his pride in the company’s growth in the country, noting: “At Universal Aviation Dominican Republic, we are proud to have begun our journey here just nine years ago, and it’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come — supporting operations at seven airports, assisting thousands of flights, serving countless crews and passengers, and now adding this beautiful FBO in Samana, which truly feels like a crown jewel for all of us.”
Alexandra Malvezin, Chief Commercial Officer at AERODOM®, emphasized the strategic value of the project, stating:
“With this new terminal, we reaffirm our commitment to the development of private and executive aviation in the Dominican Republic. This FBO positions Samana among the world’s most exclusive destinations, enhancing its tourism appeal and contributing to the economic growth of the entire northeastern region.”
The terminal itself — designed with a focus on comfort, sustainability, and contemporary Caribbean elegance — was created by renowned architect Rubén Merette and built by Abbot Puig. Spanning 300 square meters, it features a main lounge, panoramic terrace, dedicated areas for immigration and customs, an executive kitchen, and administrative offices. Eco-efficient building materials and cutting-edge technology help reduce the facility’s environmental footprint while elevating the passenger and crew experience.
Every aspect of the new FBO was designed to elevate the experience for both passengers and crew. The facility offers faster immigration processes, personalized services, bright open spaces, and a contemporary atmosphere inspired by Caribbean sophistication.
Danilo Rosario Jiménez, General Director of Universal Aviation® Dominican Republic, emphasized the significance of the project, stating: “This project symbolizes our confidence in Samana’s potential as a rising hub for executive aviation in the Caribbean. With this terminal, we raise service standards and strengthen Universal Aviation’s leadership in personalized attention, efficiency, and operational excellence.”
He also highlighted that the Samana FBO represents more than just new infrastructure — it serves as a platform to develop local talent, create specialized jobs, and fuel the growth of high-value tourism across the northeastern region of the country.
The launch of this new terminal is the result of a strong partnership between Universal Aviation®—a global leader in executive aviation services with operations in more than 30 countries—and AERODOM®, the Dominican airport operator that forms part of the VINCI Airports network, the world’s largest private airport group.
Both companies share a commitment to sustainable development and operational excellence, contributing directly to strengthening the nation’s air connectivity, attracting foreign investment, and positioning the Dominican Republic as a leading regional hub for private aviation in the Caribbean.
The new FBO is equipped to serve executive and private aircraft with a full suite of premium services, including world-class ground handling, valet parking, concierge assistance, executive catering, and exclusive amenities designed to maximize comfort and privacy for its passengers.
In addition, the terminal was designed in accordance with VINCI Airports’ sustainability standards, incorporating energy-efficient systems, thermal control technology, and reduced water-consumption mechanisms—further reinforcing both companies’ commitment to a greener, more responsible aviation sector.
The inauguration of this FBO comes at a moment of steady growth for Samana, a region that blends world-class tourism infrastructure with some of the Caribbean’s most breathtaking natural landscapes. With this new facility, President Juan Bosch International Airport becomes a strategic gateway for premium travelers, strengthening Samana’s positioning as a truly world-class destination.
